30 Day Financial Cleanse: Day 7 Calculate Savings

As a reminder this post series is all about getting a handle on your finances!  I heard about Personal Capital, a personal finance software company, and their 30 Day Cleanse and decided to take the pledge and encourage my readers to do the same!

Subtract your monthly spending from your monthly income. Add that total to any retirement plan contributions (401K) so you can see how much you can save.

This is step should only take a couple of minutes. You are really just identifying the potential you have to save. I find that if I have extra money that I did not plan for, I tend to spend it rather than save it. So find out what potential you have for savings or paying off debt. In the next few days and weeks we will discuss where you might be able to put that extra dough each month!

Stay tuned for Day 8: See How You Stack Up!
