30 Day Financial Cleanse Day 5: Know How Much You Spend

As a reminder this post series is all about getting a handle on your finances!  I heard about Personal Capital, a personal finance software company, and their 30 Day Cleanse and decided to take the pledge and encourage my readers to do the same!

Automatically bucket expenses into categories (e.g. insurance, debt payments, rent/mortgage, groceries, or discretionary spending like clothing of dining out).

If you did Day 3, once you have yourself set up, this makes things a lot easier to see at a glance where your money is going. I already did a post on how Tyler and I organize our spending, which you can read here.  We use Google sheets, which is not automatic so I manually put everything in every week. This works well for us because I have a system down and I enjoy analyzing everything. I highly recommend using some sort of system to see where you are spending your money. It can be VERY eye-opening if you have not done this before.

Stay tuned for Day 6: Prioritize Your Spending!
