This past weekend I was lucky enough to see my best friend, Jessica! She is 27 weeks pregnant and looks adorable! She was in town visiting her dad and step-mom as well as here to go to... So You Think You Can Dance! We are pretty nerdy about that show and since they were coming to Boise we decided to get tickets. Plus, we had a chance to head to David's Bridal for my dress alteration appointment. Jessica and I generally center our visits around food, movies (a show in this case), and lots of talking! We got to do plenty of that on Sunday and Monday and it was just what I needed. Sunday we headed to the dress fitting so she as well as Kayla could see the dress. Danyel also joined us but she was seeing the dress for the second time. It was so nice to have them there to give me their thoughts on the dress as well as the alterations. We chatted about bridesmaids dresses too as well as invitations and I am just so lucky to have these 3 ladies in my life :) On Monday Jessica and I went to…

Wednesday: Hot Yoga
Thursday: Legs/abs and HIIT (body weight exercises)
Friday: Hot Yoga
Saturday: Arms/shoulders and long run-6 miles

Soooo I did not follow my plan very well, however I did still work out 5 days and they were all really great workouts! I want to try to incorporate strength training but I LOVE Hot Yoga and running. I also want to do an interval running day to keep progressing with speed. Here is what I am thinking for this week:

Monday: Hot Yoga
Tuesday: Jillian's 30 day shred
Wednesday: Hot Yoga
Thursday: Rest
Friday: interval run (30 min) and Hot Yoga
Saturday: Jillian's 30 day shred
Sunday: 7 mile run

R & R... but not the good kind

On my run yesterday (6 miles in 59:59!) I got to reflecting on where I started and how far I have come. First off, I have had GI issues with running since junior high. A lot of runners have various GI issues (click here for more details) and I am one of them. Back in 8th grade I was running the mile and towards the end my stomach started to cramp REALLY bad, I got really sweaty, and then got really light-headed and blacked out for a moment or two. I went to a GI doc and he said I had "runner's disease" (which sounds made up if you ask me and I have never found evidence of my condition in literature) where essentially my vagal nerve freaks out that all of my blood flow has gone to my extremities, causing me to pass out. I have been close to passing out on multiple occasions since 8th grade due to various types of exercise, not just running. So basically, my body appeared ill-equipped for serious cardio (insert sad violin music here).
Second, my Raynaud's makes running…

Mindful Monday

Every start to Sumits hot yoga includes a breathing exercise in which we are to center ourselves and focus on our intention for the class. Whether it be meditation, mindfulness, grace, strength, balance, or any other purpose, it is important to start with intention.

As I mentioned before, I have been in a funk and I think one thing that might help is to be more present and mindful. I tend to always be looking forward or backward but rarely just appreciate the here and now. I would like to center myself every Monday, set my intention, and be present as I go about my week. Here's how I plan to break it down:

Try a new recipe. I am thinking about this meatball sub made from mushrooms. I am thinking this recipe might be the one to try.

So, hi. It's been awhile... Sorry 'bout that. Life's gotten busy, I've been stressed, blah, blah, blah, but hey-I am back and ready to tell you about the latest happenings of our animal kingdom.
So first things first, waaaaay back in August, Tyler and I took engagement photos. Here is a sneak peek:
Aren't we adorable? Yeah, I think we are

Shortly after I went dress shopping. The first place we went was great but none of them were "the" dress. Later in October I went again and this time I found it. Of course those are the only details I will be sharing but it is gorgeous and I am looking forward to my alterations appointment this weekend! Tyler and I also booked a photographer and are now officially less than one year out from the wedding. So, that's the wedding update; things are moving forward and getting more exciting!

September was full of concerts, family in town (love you Genevieve), roofing the house (thanks Gen, Kaz, and Mike), as well as wa…
