34.2lbs down, 18 inches slimmer, and training for a 5K!

Since my last post I completed my challenge and have since started a new one. The last challenge was a great success; Tyler and I started incorporating more tofu into our diets and eating less red meat and I stayed away from alcohol, chips, and soda and ended up losing 5lbs in 10days! The challenge I am currently doing compromises of 4 things: Keeping track of how many ounces of water I am drinking, the number of minutes I work out, staying on point (or within my Weight Watchers points) by tracking everything I eat, and my personal challenge- to do something active every day for 21 days. The water and the tracking part has been easy but I got sick earlier this week so I had to slow down on the activity. On Monday I just did 20minutes of Pilates at home and then Tuesday I didn't do anything active. Last Saturday I did work out  twice though with going to Kickboxing in the morning and then going out dancing that night so I don't feel guilty about it at all. These challenges are thought up by a WW leader, Nicole, who I follow on Facebook and WW. She is very inspirational and is a great motivator! You can find her by searching "Nicole's Weight Loss Challenges" on Facebook, like her page and can join her in the challenges she posts.

Last week I gained .8lbs, which was the first time in 5 months that I had a gain. I was pretty bummed out about it even thought I know it is a normal part of the process. Between hormones levels, water weight, muscle gain, etc I was bound to be up at some point. It was a bit of a wake up call though because it made me realize I can't take what I "know" to be certain points or portions for granted. I was a bit more diligent this week and ended up losing 4.4lbs putting my total at 34.2lbs! It is so nice to know that I only have 18lbs left until my goal; I know I can do this!

I have done 5Ks before but I have almost always walked most of the way. Last fall I told myself that the next time I do a 5K I am going to run the whole thing. At least once a week I have been trying to improve my stamina on the treadmill to see if I can increase how fast and how long I run. This week I was able to do 3 miles in 40minutes and 23 of those minutes were me running at at least a 12mi/hr pace. It was a huge accomplishment for me! I think I am going to sign up for The Great Potato Race in May so I have 2.5months to continue to work on my progress. It is starting to get nice outside too so my plan is to try to run outside at least twice a week starting next week and continue my interval training. It's really awesome to set out goals for myself and achieve them! I am on my way :)

Here's me now 5months after joing Weight Watchers:

  1. You are looking so good. Keep up the good work. I hope you meet your goal!

    Love, Aunt Kath
